Hey there, a class I'm really intrested in trying is the mesmer class. However, I can't think up a unique role-playing name or cool one! I'm just wondering how you thought up yours. For some people having a good name isn't a biggie, but for me it's very important so I dont' want to have to remake them later on! Also, he will be a river dancing male mesmer!

I make my characters according to a last name scheme:

Tyria - Meratilo. It's italian and reflects the "European medeval" setting.

Cantha - Katon. It's...japanese.

Elona - Luan. It sounds vaguely African.

Then you just come up with an italian/asian/african first name and voila.

Erin Riley sounds like a phonebook name, to be honest, but it's just one I whiffed from a previous game I played. My other character names are a little more creative.

My first was named after a character card in the card game Legend of the Five Rings. Well, pretty silly name.
My former per-pre character was a mesmer called Tina Mindclouder, I just took a mesmer boss' name I found funny.
Look at a list of mesmer bosses, and see if you find a nice name.

I don't know how I come up with my names. I used to participate in alot of RPG forums where having a character name was a must, and since I never really liked using the same name in a single forum... well, of the top of my head, I've had:

Cargo Fortseer
Iassar Kaiveda
Sarceda Es
Karetao Du Vista

and my current mesmer's name is Flaux Terrahaven. I only recently discovered the meaning of the word Faux, and regretted not having my name called that instead, but apparently Flaux is some place name, I think.

I really like "I" names . . . Iris, Ivy, Isis. And "Palphramond" is a family name in the faux Victorian conspiracy/diary novel "The Quincunx". So . . . Ivy Palphramond. Iris is my Necro, Isis is my Ranger.

I just came up with a first name i liked and a last name i liked. Hence: Dean Harper. Later, i made characters like: Dean Harper of Tyr, Dean Harper I I. I even copied one of my guild leaders names: Deathby Gardn Gnome and came up with Deathbys Servant. Aras Harper came from one of the guys names on Survivor, lol. So pretty much, when you find a name that you like, use it.

Since mesmers always seem to be classy girls and guys something like prince or duke or dutches would be appropite also something invlolving mind or illusions considering thats what mesmers are all about.

Thats why I named mine "Mente Principe" in spanish that means Mind Prince.

My characters all have a different reason for their names:

Dargoth Alfazul - W/R - Dargoth -> a RPG character in my D&D days, Alfazul -> partially named from the Ghostbuster's Gatekeeper? Zul.

Tasha Myriad - a few girls I liked named Patricia, and Myriad... different styles to suit my mood (Mo/E).

Marvin Kilgore - Starvin Marvin & another name I used in RPGs - Kilgore (R/Mo)

Sireena Delmar - Sireena - name from Sailor Moon, Delmar - broker company (N/Me)

Wang Fujin - Wang - oriental name for my Rit/N, Fujin -> Wind God from MK 4

Mai Kogaro - Mai -> Mai Shiranoi from Fatal Fury, Kogaro -> Ninja Scroll (A/Mo)

Calisto Potedia - Xena references (P/Me)

Alicia Stonehouse - Alicia -> Actress I like, Stonehouse -> last name of someone I knew. (Me/Mo)

For some reason I can't remember my Dervish's name.

I agree, names are important, that is why I don't put names like "the invincible", "the hidden", or "pwn you all"

Remember, you're stuck with your character's name for life.
